Adama Barrow Seeks URR Votes With Promise of 360 Kilometres of New Roads

Adama Barrow has appealed to voters in the Upper River Region to support his bid for another term, promising 360 kilometres of additional road construction in the region if he wins the December election.
The president made the pledge while inaugurating the Basse–Manneh Kunda, Bemba Kunda and Numuyel road project. He said the extra roads had been earmarked for construction after the election and promised that his administration would complete them. Barrow is seeking another five-year term.
Addressing residents, he urged them to turn out to vote and said distance to polling stations, hot weather or work should not be used as reasons to stay away. “I only want one thing from you: vote for me and leave the rest to me,” he said, according to the account.
Barrow defended his government’s development record, claiming that water and electricity coverage had reached more than 90 percent. He also cited the construction of schools, hospitals and universities as evidence of progress under his leadership. The figures and assessment were presented as his claims at the event.
He said road infrastructure was now receiving greater attention and predicted that development over the next five years would be historic. Barrow described himself as a servant of the Gambian people and said he intended to continue pursuing development initiatives if re-elected.
The road pledge was made at the project inauguration as the president addressed voters in the region. His promise of 360 kilometres refers to additional construction after the election, while the account does not list the proposed routes or provide a timetable beyond the commitment to complete the projects.
