Chiamaka Ikpechukwu has asked the public to give her family space to grieve after the death of her father, veteran actor Diewait Ikpechukwu. In a tearful video shared on social media, she addressed the spread of news about his passing before the family had been able to speak publicly. According to the report, Diewait died on Thursday, aged 71, after a prolonged illness. Chiamaka also called on the Actors Guild of Nigeria to remove an alleged burial poster that had circulated without her consent. She said she did not want the family’s private mourning period disrupted and asked people to stop calling her. Her emotional appeal drew messages of support from people in the entertainment industry. Actress Chioma Akpotha and filmmaker Omoni Oboli were among those reported to have reacted, while Don Jazzy and Monalisa Chinda left heartbroken emojis in the comments. The responses reflected the sympathy many colleagues expressed for Chiamaka and her family. The report described the video as a direct plea during a painful time for the family. Chiamaka’s request focused on two matters: the circulation of the burial notice and unwanted calls. She did not want the alleged poster shared without permission, and she asked people to respect the family’s need for privacy as they mourned the actor.
