Daniel Ong Makes Final Plea for Weekday Diners Before Dan’s Steaks Closes

Former radio DJ Daniel Ong is asking customers to give Dan’s Steaks a last boost before the Serangoon Garden restaurant shuts for good. In an Instagram post on Nov. 2, he thanked diners who had come in after hearing about the planned closure, saying he was overwhelmed by the support. The restaurant, located at 12 Maju Avenue, has been operating for more than five years. Ong said weekends can be busy, but weekdays are a different story: on some days, he said, the dining room is practically empty. A business cannot keep going on only three strong days a week, he added. With the restaurant’s final stretch underway, Ong urged customers to visit from Monday to Thursday. He said he hopes the team can have a good final run before the doors close, and noted that he has been helping out at the restaurant almost every day as preparations continue. Dan’s Steaks is trying to draw diners in with meals offered without Goods and Services Tax, along with the return of popular dishes and several new specials. Ong also said weekday visits should offer a more relaxed dining experience than the busier weekend rush. The restaurant’s exact closing date has not yet been confirmed. For now, Ong’s message is a straightforward appeal: come by on a quieter weekday, enjoy a meal, and help the staff end the restaurant’s run on a strong note.
