Davika Hoorne Set to Return for Inherit Sequel, Director Confirms

Davika Hoorne
Davika Hoorne is expected to reprise her role in a sequel to the psychological horror film Inherit, director Banjong Pisanthanakun told Variety. The filmmaker confirmed the follow-up while discussing the project, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and is closing the Jakarta World Cinema festival. Hoorne plays Woranart, a youthful-looking grandmother who joins her granddaughter’s wealthy household. The family discovers that she is connected to a centuries-old centipede spirit with dangerous intentions toward the youngest member of the family, Oui, played by Baipor Thitiya Jirapornsilp. Pisanthanakun said Hoorne was his first choice for the part. He described the character as someone who needed to be beautiful, funny and stylish, and said he imagined her sunbathing by a pool while behaving like a woman of the modern era. To help shape the performance, he suggested Hoorne study Catherine Tramell from Basic Instinct and Hannibal Lecter from The Silence of the Lambs. The director and actress previously worked together on the 2013 horror comedy Pee Mak, a major local box-office success in Thailand. Hoorne has also appeared in A Useful Ghost, which received the Critics’ Week Grand Prix at Cannes in 2025. Hoorne said she chooses film projects carefully because each can take about a year of work. She described Inherit and A Useful Ghost as part of her return to cinema, and encouraged audiences to trust her selection of the project. Pisanthanakun also reflected on how his approach to horror has changed. He said he once grew tired of the genre, but later films showed him fresh creative possibilities. His comments about the sequel suggest audiences can expect Hoorne’s character to remain central to the next chapter.
