Donald Trump Hints at More Cabinet Shake-Ups After Susie Wiles’ Exit

Donald Trump suggested that more senior members of his administration could lose their jobs, making the remark in a newly released preview of a 60 Minutes interview. His comments came hours after he dismissed longtime White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, according to the report.
“I love my Cabinet. I think they’re good,” Trump told correspondent Ross Douthat, before adding that he might make “a few changes” without naming anyone. The president also said he remained confident in Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, whose position came up as Douthat asked about the administration and the war with Iran.
Trump then shifted to describing U.S. operations in Venezuela, claiming his administration had won two wars and saying the operation there had been completed in less than an hour. When Douthat asked whether Hegseth deserved credit for that operation, Trump replied, “No. But he was a part of it.”
Douthat later told CBS News anchor Tony Dokoupil that Trump considered the war with Iran a major factor in the Republican Party’s poor midterm performance, while continuing to argue that going to war had been the right decision. The report also says Trump suggested immigration might offer an opening for bipartisan cooperation.
That comment came as Trump announced Stephen Miller’s promotion to White House chief of staff after Wiles’ departure. Douthat pointed out the apparent tension between the proposed bipartisan approach and Miller’s record as a hard-line immigration adviser. The full interview was scheduled to air Sunday, according to the article.
