Elias Mokwana Calls Kaizer Chiefs Move a Childhood Dream Come True

Elias Mokwana says joining Kaizer Chiefs fulfils an ambition he has carried since childhood. The winger, who has now completed his move to the Soweto club, explained that his connection with Amakhosi began long before he wore their colours professionally.
Mokwana said he grew up supporting Chiefs and first heard of the club’s interest while he was playing for Sekhukhune United. At that point, he expected to move to Naturena, but the transfer did not happen as planned. Instead, he joined Tunisia’s Esperance Sportive de Tunis, taking his career to North Africa before eventually returning to South African football.
The player described the missed opportunity as the result of obstacles that prevented the move at the time. Although the route to Chiefs proved longer than he had anticipated, he has now secured the transfer he once hoped for.
Mokwana also spoke positively about arriving at Naturena, calling the environment welcoming and saying he wants to make a meaningful contribution. The move carries special significance for a footballer who supported the club growing up, but it also brings the expectations attached to one of South Africa’s most followed teams.
He said he had always wanted to prove himself in a Chiefs shirt and help the club win trophies. His immediate challenge is to establish himself in the squad and contribute to a side seeking greater consistency and silverware.
For Mokwana, the transfer turns a childhood wish into a professional opportunity. Whether he can make his mark on the pitch remains to be seen, but he has made clear that the chance to represent the club means more to him than an ordinary change of team.
