Isreal DMW Rejects Claims Davido Backed a Plot to Get VeryDarkMan Arrested

Isreal DMW has pushed back against claims that Davido was involved in an alleged effort to have social media activist VeryDarkMan arrested, saying the singer did not approve the actions of people in a WhatsApp group linked to the matter.
In a statement addressed to Nigerians, Davido’s longtime logistics manager said the group members acted without his boss’s instructions. He also rejected suggestions that Davido had clashed with producer Samklef, sought control of late singer Mohbad’s music catalogue or tried to sign Zinoleesky, another former Marlian Music artist. Isreal said those claims were false.
The dispute is tied to the continuing public debate following Mohbad’s death in September 2023 at age 27. His death prompted protests and a police investigation, while VeryDarkMan was among the online voices calling for answers. Naira Marley, Mohbad’s former label boss, was also drawn into public scrutiny.
Isreal further said Davido faced pressure at the time to unfollow Naira Marley on Instagram, but declined, preferring to let the police do their work rather than act on hearsay. He added that the two musicians remain on good terms and have made a hit song together.
Addressing speculation about an incident at Naira Marley’s home, Isreal described it as a minor matter involving Tolu, formerly associated with Davido’s 30BG crew, and one of Naira Marley’s associates. He denied that anyone had been beaten or attacked.
The statement offers Davido’s camp’s account of the claims, while leaving unanswered who supplied the allegations attributed to the WhatsApp group. Isreal’s remarks focus on distancing the singer from the group’s alleged actions and from several other stories circulating around the Mohbad case.
