Jason Reding Quiñones Abruptly Resigns as Florida’s Top Federal Prosecutor

Jason A. Reding Quiñones has abruptly resigned as U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida, becoming the third senior figure to leave a politically charged investigation since April. Attorney General Todd Blanche announced the departure on social media Friday, thanking him for his service. Reding Quiñones said he was leaving that same day, but neither statement explained why.
“Leading the U.S. Attorney’s Office in my home district has been especially meaningful,” Reding Quiñones wrote, expressing pride in the office’s work and gratitude for the chance to serve. His exit comes as a probe into an alleged conspiracy has yet to produce charges, despite a series of subpoenas and public expectations that indictments might follow.
According to the account, Reding Quiñones issued more than two dozen subpoenas during his time on the case. Those reportedly included requests involving former CIA director John Brennan, former FBI counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok and former FBI lawyer Lisa Page. The article says the White House had grown dissatisfied after a year of promises that the investigation would lead to indictments. It also reports that Reding Quiñones had told Pam Bondi he expected to charge Brennan with lying to Congress by year’s end, but no such charge was filed.
His departure follows that of Kurt Olsen, who left on Sept. 29, and Justice Department counselor Joe DiGenova, who departed on Sept. 10. The report says Olsen’s security clearance stalled after he failed a polygraph focused on foreign contacts. DiGenova, meanwhile, warned that seeking indictments without evidence would raise ethical concerns, while saying he believed the investigation needed more time.
The office has also faced significant staffing upheaval. The report says its workforce of roughly 200 was cut nearly in half after a period of hiring and resignations, with several people assigned to the investigation leaving or being dismissed. Reding Quiñones’ resignation adds to the uncertainty around a probe that has drawn intense pressure but, so far, no criminal charges.
