Jay-Z Is Finally Set to Headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show

After more than 30 years in music, Jay-Z is preparing for a career milestone he has never experienced: headlining the Super Bowl halftime show. The rapper, whose real name is Shawn Carter, is set to take center stage at Super Bowl LXI on February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, according to the announcement confirmed by the NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation.
“From Reasonable Doubt to the Super Bowl stage, it’s been a long journey,” Jay-Z said, describing three decades of music, work and culture leading to what he called a dream come true. The article notes that he is among the most successful rappers of all time, has won 25 Grammy Awards and is also an influential figure in the music business.
The booking carries an added twist: Jay-Z has helped shape the halftime lineup for years. Roc Nation has worked with the NFL on its music programming and halftime production since 2019. The partnership has brought performers including Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, The Weeknd, Rihanna, Usher, Kendrick Lamar and Bad Bunny to the show.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Jay-Z has had an important role as a producer and adviser in selecting performers. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said that when the league began working with Roc Nation, he hoped Jay-Z might one day perform himself. Now, that long-discussed possibility is becoming reality.
Speculation has already turned to whether his wife, Beyoncé, might join him onstage. She performed at the Super Bowl in 2013 and appeared as a guest during Coldplay’s halftime show three years later, but no involvement in the 2027 performance has been confirmed. The NFL and Roc Nation have not announced other guests or shared further details, leaving fans to wonder what surprises could be in store.
