Jennifer Welch Admits She Misjudged Trump’s Stamina: ‘A Teflon Energizer Bunny’

Jennifer Welch
Progressive podcaster Jennifer Welch says she may have underestimated Donald Trump’s ability to keep going, even as she remains concerned about his health. Speaking on Monday’s episode of IHIP News, she reflected on how the president continues to campaign through a demanding schedule. The discussion began with co-host Angie Sullivan questioning Trump’s appearance at a recent Michigan rally. Sullivan pointed to what she described as sweating, swelling, a shiny face and changes in his speech. Welch replied that the two had effectively “switched roles” in their past predictions about his health. Welch recalled expecting, in the years after January 6, that Trump’s health would eventually catch up with him. Sullivan, she said, used to answer that “mean people live forever.” Welch said she still thinks Trump looks unhealthy, but acknowledged that he continues to work and campaign at a strenuous pace. “I keep thinking he’s going to keel over,” Welch said, also referring to bruising on his hands. Yet she conceded that the president has proved remarkably resilient, describing him as “a Teflon Energizer Bunny.” The remarks came as the hosts discussed rallies held by both parties in Michigan over the weekend. Barack Obama spoke in Detroit in support of Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, while Trump appeared in Port Huron to campaign for Republican Mike Rogers. The White House has previously described Trump as being in good health. After his latest physical, his physician, Navy Capt. Sean Barbabella, said the president “remains in excellent health.” The administration has also attributed the bruising on Trump’s hands to his frequent handshaking and use of a higher-than-normal aspirin dose. Welch and Sullivan host I’ve Had It, a political commentary podcast launched in 2022 that had passed one million YouTube subscribers by February 2026. Welch is an interior designer, and Sullivan is a former divorce attorney. The article says no White House response specifically addressing Welch’s latest comments was identified.
