Kris Jenner Wears Elizabeth Taylor’s Scorpion Cape to Rome Premiere

Kris Jenner made a striking entrance at a Rome Film Festival premiere in a piece of Hollywood history: a black velvet cape once worn by Elizabeth Taylor. Jenner wore the hooded Tiziani design to the Saturday, October 24, screening of season two of All’s Fair. The cape is embroidered with diamanté scorpions, and she paired it with a white gown, matching gloves and a diamond drop necklace.
The garment has a memorable past. Taylor wore the cape to Princess Grace’s 40th birthday party in 1969, an occasion remembered as the Scorpion Ball. Jenner later bought it at auction and chose to wear it for the Italian event. The outfit connected the premiere’s fashion moment with the cape’s earlier appearance at the celebration nearly six decades ago.
Jenner’s daughter Kim Kardashian revealed that the same cape also features in an upcoming episode of All’s Fair. In an Instagram Stories post on Sunday, Kardashian said her mother owns the piece and had graciously lent it to her for the series. Kardashian plays divorce attorney Allura Grant in the show, and said creator Ryan Murphy heard the story of Taylor wearing the cape to the Scorpion Ball and wrote an episode in which her character throws a Scorpion Ball of her own.
Kardashian called herself lucky to borrow the archival piece and encouraged fans to watch for its appearance. At the Rome premiere, she chose a different vintage look: an archival Yves Saint Laurent corset gown with an off-the-shoulder shawl and leopard print. Her stylist, Law Roach, credited the dress’s source, Lily Et Cie, in a social media post and described the moment as the start of court.
The family’s shared connection to the cape gives the vintage garment a role both on the red carpet and in the television series. Jenner’s appearance made the piece’s history part of the premiere conversation, while Kardashian’s post explained how the real-life story inspired a plot point. Neither the cape’s history nor its new screen appearance changes the basic fact that it remains a coveted piece from Taylor’s wardrobe, now worn by two generations of the Kardashian-Jenner family.
