Niraphon, 25, Found Dead in Canal After Going Missing on Food Errand

A 25-year-old health worker was found dead in an irrigation canal in Chiang Mai, Thailand, one day after she left home to buy food, according to reports. The cause of her death has not been established, and investigators are continuing to examine what happened.
Niraphon was last seen by her father on Oct. 30 as she set off from home, Khaosod English reported. CCTV footage reportedly showed her riding her motorcycle to a shop near the house and later leaving. She was not seen reaching the main road, the report said.
When her family could no longer contact her, they reported her missing. Police and rescue workers searched nearby roads and areas around the shop. At about 3:30pm on Oct. 31, they found Niraphon’s body in an irrigation canal near the shop, with her motorcycle also at the scene.
Police reportedly raised the possibility that she may have accidentally ridden into the canal and suffered fatal injuries. However, that remains unconfirmed, and the cause of death has yet to be determined.
Investigators are expected to question relatives, Niraphon’s boyfriend and other witnesses, while also reviewing additional CCTV footage, according to Khaosod. The inquiry is ongoing, and authorities have not announced a final account of how she entered the canal.
