Omar Jagne Wins Two International Awards for Health Leadership and Compliance

Omar Jagne, chief executive of Africmed International Hospital, has received two honours at the 7th Africa Public Sector Conference and Awards in Accra, Ghana, according to the report. Jagne was named Outstanding Health Leader of the Year, while his hospital received the award for Healthcare Tax Compliance Institution of the Year.
The conference, held at the Kempinski Hotel, brought together more than 1,000 participants from 15 countries, including government officials, business leaders and development partners. This year’s theme focused on building resilient institutions for a digital, green and secure Africa.
The report describes Jagne’s recognition as a first for a Gambian health leader at the event, with both awards going to him and his institution at the same ceremony. Africmed has also been recognised for its record of tax compliance among healthcare institutions, the article says.
After receiving the awards, Jagne expressed gratitude and pointed to developments in Gambia’s health sector, including more doctors graduating, additional specialists qualifying and new health centres opening across the country. He said Africmed’s mission extends beyond providing medical care, emphasising community health service and the role of the hospital in supporting unity and progress.
The two awards place both the hospital’s leadership and its institutional compliance in the spotlight. According to the report, Africmed’s recognition reflects its work in healthcare as well as its approach to meeting tax obligations.
