Paul Pierce Says Fox Sports Exit Left Him Struggling to Keep Up With Support Payments

Paul Pierce says losing his Fox Sports income has left him struggling to meet his financial obligations, including court-ordered child and spousal support, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
In the filing, Pierce said his last Fox Sports payment arrived in August. He reported that his average monthly income had been about $119,000, but is now zero. He said he earned roughly $23,000 last month from interests in other business ventures.
Pierce listed monthly payments of about $28,000 in child support and $20,000 in spousal support. He also told the court he has approximately $300,000 in the bank and about $3 million in property. His filing put his monthly expenses at roughly $48,000, including childcare, groceries, utilities, clothing, entertainment and meals out.
The former NBA player is asking the court to reject his ex-wife Princess Santiago’s request for $40,000 in legal fees and an additional $10,000 for a forensic accountant. Santiago reportedly argued that Pierce was not being forthcoming with financial records and wanted an expert to examine his finances.
Pierce’s attorney said in the filing that he would have “great difficulty” paying those requested costs after his Fox Sports contract was terminated, and described him as “drowning financially.” The court had previously ordered Pierce to pay $8,508 a month in temporary child support for their son, King, as well as $100,000 in legal fees, according to the report.
The filing comes against the backdrop of Pierce’s substantial past earnings. He reportedly made around $200 million during his NBA career. The figures and claims about his present finances come from court documents described by TMZ; the filing does not mean the court has accepted every assertion as fact.
