Queen Mary Shares a Rare Glimpse of Her Dogs Enjoying Denmark’s Autumn Countryside

Queen Mary gave followers a brief look at a quieter side of royal life, sharing a home video of the family dogs running along a leaf-covered country path. The Danish queen posted the clip on Instagram as autumn colours filled the surroundings, with Grace and Coco darting through fallen yellow and brown leaves. Mary did not identify the location. The article suggests the footage may have been filmed near Gribskov Forest, close to the family’s summer residence at Fredensborg Palace, or in The Deer Park, several miles from their main home at Frederik VIII’s Palace in Copenhagen. The setting offered a rare glimpse of the outdoors the family enjoys away from formal royal engagements. Mary and King Frederik have four children: Crown Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine. The couple generally keep images of their private homes to a minimum, making the personal clip an unusual peek at family life. Their Copenhagen residence, formerly known as Brockdorff’s Palace, dates to the mid-18th century and underwent a major restoration before the royal couple moved in during 2010. Mary has previously spoken about the adjustment of moving from Australia to Denmark. In an interview with Australian Women’s Weekly, she recalled feeling lonely at times while adapting to a new country and language, despite the support of Frederik, who was her boyfriend at the time. She has since described enjoying relaxed weekends with the children, including bike rides, park visits, walks in the forest and swimming. In the same interview, Mary said the family appreciates weekends without a packed schedule, when they can take their time at home. Her latest video offered a small, wordless illustration of that slower country-life routine, with the dogs making the most of the autumn scenery.
