Seka Aleksić Says Women’s Online Criticism Followed Her 22-Kilogram Weight Loss

Seka Aleksić says the response to her recent change in appearance has not been entirely flattering. The singer, who has lost 22 kilograms in recent months, told Blic Television’s “IDJ After Show” that compliments have been accompanied by harsh remarks on social media, and she was surprised that many appeared to come from women. Aleksić described a medically supervised approach to losing weight. She said an endocrinologist identified insulin resistance after blood tests and recommended medication, stressing that such treatment should only be taken when prescribed by a doctor. She began taking it in January, she said, and combined it with changes to her diet and regular exercise. “I started training too: the gym three times a week and boxing twice,” she said, explaining that exercise was important as her body changed. Aleksić added that she had wanted to lose weight for years but found it difficult while still wanting to eat as she pleased. The singer said the critical messages she receives are mostly from women, including women whose profiles show them with their children. She responded with a pointed observation about how appearance may shape reactions, saying that if she looked like her critics, they might feel more sympathetic toward her. Her comments were delivered with humor, but made clear that the remarks had caught her attention. Aleksić also explained that she does not see another woman’s looks as a reason for resentment. She offered model Danijela Dimitrovska as an example, saying she admires her figure and has told her so directly on Instagram. Seeing someone she considers beautiful, Aleksić said, motivates her to make an effort herself rather than to feel jealous. Her account of the transformation therefore covered more than the number on the scale: she discussed medical guidance, training and the mixed reaction her new look has drawn. She also urged caution around weight-loss medication, emphasizing that a doctor should decide whether it is appropriate and determine the dose.
