Jensen Huang’s Meetings With Megaspeed Executive Draw US Espionage Scrutiny

US intelligence officials are reportedly examining Jensen Huang’s repeated contact with Megaspeed executive Alice Huang, amid allegations that the Singapore-based company was involved in moving Nvidia chips to China. The New York Times reported that officials suspect Alice Huang, a Chinese citizen also known as Huang Le, of having ties to Chinese intelligence. The allegations have not been established publicly. The report says the pair were seen together several times over the past two years. One encounter took place in Taipei in June 2024, after a technology trade show. Megaspeed executive Parker Schmitt told the newspaper that Alice Huang said she could bring Jensen Huang to join a gathering of technology executives. He arrived shortly afterwards and shared a drink with the group, according to the account. In May the following year, the two were reportedly seen leaving a Taipei restaurant after a dinner with other artificial intelligence suppliers. The newspaper said US surveillance had assessed that they were in close contact, while officials worried Alice Huang could use the relationship to obtain sensitive information from the Nvidia chief. That concern, according to the report, is heightened by Huang’s interactions with US President Donald Trump and his involvement in discussions over whether Nvidia should be allowed to sell chips to China. The article also cited a source who said Nvidia donated at least US$20 million to a fund for a White House ballroom. It further reported that Huang was present at a dinner during Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s visit to the US. US intelligence officers reportedly briefed Trump about the suspected espionage risk, but the Times said he took no action. China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun rejected the alleged plot, calling the report groundless speculation and an attempt to smear China, according to CNA. The report also says Alice Huang’s exact role at Megaspeed remains unclear; it describes her earlier work as a reporter and private banker in China.
