Manoa Kamikamica keeps quiet on rumours Ro Teimumu Kepa could join PAP

Manoa Kamikamica
Rumours that Ro Teimumu Kepa and Sashi Kiran may join Fiji’s People’s Alliance Party are drawing attention, but Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica says there is no announcement to make yet. He declined to confirm or deny whether either woman is considering joining the party ahead of the next general election. Kamikamica, who is also the party’s deputy leader, was responding to a question from fijivillage News about speculation surrounding the two potential candidates. He said it would be premature to comment on possible arrangements before Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka makes an official announcement. The deputy leader acknowledged that the names being discussed would attract public attention. But, according to the report, he maintained that the party’s position was not ready to be made public and that the Prime Minister should announce any decisions when he considers the timing appropriate. Kamikamica said the People’s Alliance is looking for “exceptional citizens” who are willing to serve the country and take on the responsibilities of leadership. He described identifying people prepared to contribute as the party’s current focus, rather than confirming individual recruitment discussions. For now, the speculation remains just that: neither Kepa nor Kiran was confirmed as a prospective People’s Alliance candidate, and Kamikamica offered no details about whether talks had taken place. The report says he did not rule out the possibility, but left any clarification to Rabuka and a future formal announcement.
